The Worm Works wormery is a stacking tray system made of high quality, 100% recycled plastic, with a 5 year warranty on materials and workmanship. Basically, the worms work their way up through the levels of the wormery leaving compost in their wake. As each tray is fully composted it can be emptied and filled again with food waste.

WHY BUY FROM US?
- We are worm farmers!
- We supply the correct weight of worms, in the correct packaging, in the correct amount of worm bedding. The worms are carefully mixed with a special mix of up to 4 different types of worm bedding and placed carefully in a 5 litre bucket on the same day as they are sent. This helps to ensure that the worms are happy in their new home. Firms which buy in pre-packed small amounts of worms can easily appear to be cheaper than us but as with all things in life, you get what you pay for. If you choose the latter we will be happy to sell you a wormery rescue pack next year.

Established Worm Works
Because we are worm farmers we can provide you with greater value for money by supplying you with the correct weight of worms for your wormery, required both for digesting waste and breeding. The 'engine' of a wormery is worms, if you don't have enough worms for your wormery you can't expect it to perform - you wouldn't put a 1.5 litre engine in a Ferrari just to save a few pence. We go the extra mile and supply our worms in a bucket with compost that they are used to containing cocoons ready to hatch into young worms.
Customer Testimonial: "we've had the wormery for about 3 weeks and we are really very impressed with it! .... we've noticed many conjoined worms and lots of new cocoons,....the proliferation of teeny little new worms in contrast to the huge, fat, happy big worms who are making short work of our household scraps!!"

Marketing wormeries
We have found that marketing wormeries is quite a tricky thing to do. When we had the idea a few years ago, we thought it would be a reasonably straightforward thing to do. Promote a really good product at a reasonable price. Just point out all the positives of your product without rubbishing others - simple, but no - That is a simple farmer's idea of how it ought to be done.
The Problem
Competition is good but only if it is fair!!
When one of your major competitors are ambiguous about the amount of worms supplied, supplying no where near enough worms enabling them to undercut your price, you feel that it is your duty to point this out. However pointing things out without ranting is very difficult. Which brings us onto another little rant.
Another competitor is ambitious to sell loads of wormeries; which is largely based on the Worm Works design, with deeper trays and a different lid and sump design. We do not want to knock their product, as it will probably work reasonably well. However, they have chosen to go down the route of - we have deeper trays - mine is bigger than yours type of marketing, which is ok but slightly misleading.
The whole point of stacking tray wormeries is to create lots of surface area out of a compact design. The number of worms in a wormery is driven largely by surface area. Composting ability/capacity is driven by worm numbers and temperature, so just because you make the trays deeper with a higher volume it does not mean they will compost more waste; For instance, one big vertical dustbin might have a big volume but only has a small surface area meaning it doesn't make a good design for a wormery. You need a high surface area to volume ratio.
We feel that we have to strenuously point out that it is number of trays and surface area that is one of the most important aspects of having a successful wormery, not volume, which is of some importance but only in relation to surface area.
I commercially farm worms in big trays but the depth of medium/compost in these trays is only 2-3 inches because I know it is pointless having it any deeper.
Sorry for the long rambling rant but we feel it necessary to point out a few facts when there is so much rubbish written by people who are over eager to sell their wormeries.

HOW WE CAME TO SELL THE WORM WORKS WORMERY -We had been doing research for many months previous to the creation of www.bucketofworms.co.uk, to design a worm bin that would work effectively and to get it manufactured. Unfortunately the costs were too high for us, but we managed to locate a worm bin that we believed would be efficient. Again costs were too high for us to obtain them ourselves but the manufacturer contacted us when an Irish company adapted the worm bin and created the Worm Works wormery in early 2007. We are proud to be the first company in Great Britain to start selling the Worm Works wormery.
